Shore break and sunset on the Pacific Ocean in Cabo San Lucas, MX
We stayed at the Playa Grande hotel/timeshare on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo San Lucas. A benefit of staying on the Pacific side is that the beaches are not as crowded and there's a nice breeze coming off the ocean. The downside is that the swells can be large and there's a nasty shore break, so swimming in the ocean is not advised. There are frequently strong rip currents as well.

The last day of the trip was a 'no diving' day. We chartered a fishing boat out of the Cabo harbor and went south, into the Pacific Ocean. The swells were large, but the sun was out. We came across a large pod of dolphins and they followed us, surfing with the bow of the boat.

We also saw sea turtles, swimming along out in the middle of the ocean. They initially look like a piece of flotsam, just floating there. As we approached, they would dive under and we wouldn't see them again.

There is beauty above and below the water at Cabo San Lucas.
